Introduction to Defence Ordnance Factory Board
Ordnance Factory Board is a bicentenary Government organization with 41 factories spread throughout India with State of Art defence production technology in diverse fields and 22 others establishments for Training, Safety, R&D, Recruitment etc.
Ordnance Factory Recruitment Centre, on behalf of all the Ordnance Factories invites ONLINE applications from eligible citizens of India for filling up vacancies/posts of Semi-Skilled grade Industrial Employees (IEs) Group 'C' in different trades and Labour Group 'C' in various Ordnance Factories located across India.
Eligible and interested citizens of India, willing to contribute to National Defence Production and defence preparedness of the country are invited to apply ONLINE through the following OFB link: www.ofb.gov.in
NOTE: Ex-Trade Apprentices of Ordnance Factories and candidates who have registered with employment exchange are also required to apply online through the OFB link given above. There is no exception available and all the applicants are required to apply ONLINE necessarily.
Manual application/Hard Copy of applications is not allowed and will not be entertained.
Educational qualification:
NOTE: CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION.
The Candidates applying for the aforementioned vacancies should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for the post/trade applied for. Their admission to all the stages of the selection procedure will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of admit card to the candidate for the written examination will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally accepted by OFRC/OFB. Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents will be done only at the time of trade test in the respective factories.

NOTE 1: The crucial date for determining the eligibility criteria will be the closing date of ONLINE application. In so far as cases of Ex-Serviceman are concerned, deduction of the military service rendered from the age of Ex-Servicemen is permissible against the reserved or unreserved posts and such exemption cannot be termed as relaxed standards in regard to age.
NOTE 2: Ex-Servicemen and Physically Handicapped candidates may apply against posts even if
the posts are not reserved/ear-marked for them. However, only age relaxation and fee exemption will be granted and they will be considered without horizontal reservations, subject to the post being identified for PH.
NOTE 3: Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Other
Backward Classes who are also covered under any other clauses above, viz. those coming under the category of Ex-servicemen, persons domiciled in the State of J & K, blind, Hearing Impaired and orthopedically handicapped etc. will be eligible for grant of cumulative age relaxation under the respective categories.
NOTE 4: Meritorious sportsperson in categories of sports specified as per extant rules (O.M. No.
15012/3/84-Estt (D) dated 12.11.1987), will be eligible for age relaxation in upper age limit up to a maximum of 5 years (10 years in case of those belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes and 8 years in case of those belonging to Other Backward Classes). This concession will be available only to those sportspersons who satisfy all other eligibility conditions relating to educational qualifications etc. and furnish a certificate in the form and from an authority as prescribed.
Syllabus:
The syllabus for NEST 2017 primarily follows the NCERT/ CBSE science syllabus of class XI–XII. The detailed syllabus for NEST examination is provided in page:11-18 of this document. The syllabus can also be downloaded on the www.nestexam.in website under the ‘Syllabus’ tab. There is, however, no specific syllabus for the general section. This section tests candidate's familiarity with, but not detailed understanding of, major historical milestones in subjects like astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, computer science and environmental science. Questions will be designed to test analytic abilities and comprehension of scientific passages. Some of the questions in this section may require knowledge of class X mathematics.
Application Fee:
Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.50/- as application fees. While filling the online application, the candidate will be directed to the payment gateway to remit the application fees.
· After entering the relevant details, the candidates may remit the money through credit card, debit card or net banking through the payment gateway provided in the website.
· CHALLAN MODE: Candidates may pay by cash in any branch of SBI through the SBI challan which can be generated and downloaded from the website. Applicants who pay by cash (Challan Mode) should take a printout of the system generated challan slip during PART-II of the registration and deposit the fee at an SBI branch counter before the closing date of application. After the candidate remits the cash at SBI branch, she/he has to enter the transaction reference number by logging into ‘APPLICANT LOGIN’ and upload the stamped challan displaying the transaction number. Please note that the option to upload the challan details will be available only 2 hours after downloading of the challan. Only after this process is completed, registration process of such candidates who opt to pay by Challan Mode will be considered successfully completed.
Applicants who are unable to pay the amount on the closing date even with valid challan slip
will have the option for online payment mode also which will be open until 23:55 hours of 19th June 2017. Applicants’ names whose payment details have not been received from the bank (for payment through Challan Mode) will be displayed on the website within two weeks after the last day of submission of online application as fictitious payment cases. All such applications without the fees will be out rightly rejected.
· Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. The paid fees shall also not be carried forward for any other examination or selection.
EXEMPTION FROM PAYMENT OF FEE:
SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen (eligible for reservation#) / Physically Handicapped /Women/Ex-Trade Apprentice of Ordnance Factories only are exempted from payment of fee.
(#-Ex-servicemen who have already secured employment in civil side under Central Government in Group ‘C’ posts on regular basis after availing of the benefits of reservation given to Ex-servicemen for their re-employment are NOT eligible for fee concession. However, she/he can avail of the benefit of reservation as Ex-serviceman for subsequent employment if she/he immediately, after joining civil employment, gives self-declaration/undertaking to the concerned employer about the date wise details of application for various vacancies for which she/he had applied for before joining the initial civil employment as mentioned in the OM NO. 36034/1/2014-Estt (Res) dated 14.08.2014 issuedby DOP&T.)
How to Apply:
The candidates are advised to examine all the options available and take an informed decision.
9.1 Candidate can apply to one factory only, as per his/her choice. Merit list will be prepared factory wise and select list will be made as per reservation roster applicable to the location of the factory concerned. Candidate will be eligible to get the benefit of community/caste reservation only in case the particular caste to which the candidate belongs to is included in the list of reserved communities recognized by the State Government of the State in which the factory is located.
9.2 Candidates can apply for ONLY one trade: The candidates are advised to examine all the
options available and take an informed decision. The candidate can apply to only one trade
of one factory, subject to eligibility as per Annexure B. However, in certain trade/post such as Examiner (Engg), if a candidate wishes to apply for more than one trade (wherever applicable and eligible as mentioned in Annexure B as “Single Application”), she/he must give their choice of trade in the order of preference among the options, while filling the online application. In such cases, candidates will be empanelled based on merit-cum-choice subject to suitability. Post allotted to a candidate at first opportunity of empanelment in such a situation shall not be reviewed/revised/re-allotted under any circumstances.
9.3 Candidates are required to apply online through the website http://www.ofb.gov.in.

9.4 SALIENT FEATURES OF THE SYSTEM OF THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM ARE GIVEN HEREUNDER:
a) Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available through a link in the above mentioned website under the tab ‘Apply Online’ & ‘How to Apply’.
b) The Online applications (Part I and II) can be filled from 29.05.2017 to till 23:55 Hrs on
19.06.2017.
c) The candidate must ensure that before filling up of the Online Application, she/he must have the following ready:
· Scanned photograph in 8-bit jpg/jpeg format of size 30 KB to 50 KB with resolution
140 pixel width and 60 pixel height and approx physical size 3.5 X4.5 cm. (Please note that applications with unclear photo, photo with cap, wearing goggles, disfigured or unidentifiable photo will be cancelled)
· Scanned signature in 8-bit jpg/jpeg format of size 10-20 KB, 100 pixel width and 120 pixel height and approx. size 3.5 X 1.5 cm (Please note that applications with unclear/illegible signature will be cancelled)
· Scanned left thumb impression in 8-bit jpg/jpeg format of size 10-20 KB, 100 pixel
width and 120 pixel height and approx. size 3.5 X 1.5 cm (Please note that applications with unclear or smudged LTI will be cancelled)
· Requisite certificates for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/OBC-Non Creamy Layer/Ex Trade Apprentices/Ex Servicemen, as applicable, in 8-bit jpg/jpeg format size 30 KB to 50 KB with resolution 140 pixel width and 60 pixel height.
· Details of Roll Number, Name of Board, Percentage, Year of passing of Xth Standard to be entered, as and when asked for.
· Details of Trade, Roll Number, Institute, Semester details, Month and Year of Passing, Total marks obtained etc of NTC/NAC to be entered, as and when asked for.
· Valid Photo ID Card with Number- Acceptable Photo IDs are Passport, Voter photo identity card, Driving Licence issued by RTO, PAN Card , Photo Identity card having serial number issued by Central / State Government, Unique Identification Card "Aadhaar”, Photo identity cards having serial number issued by public sector Undertakings of State/Central Government, District Administrations, Municipal bodies and Panchayat Administrations.
· In case candidate requires a scribe, scribe details such as Name, Mobile Number, Email ID, Address, Qualification to be entered and Scanned Photo of scribe to be
uploaded in 8- bit jpg/jpeg format size 30 KB to 50 KB with resolution 140 pixel width and 60 pixel height.
· For Ex Servicemen-Discharge details to be entered and Scanned Discharge
Certificate to be uploaded in 8- bit jpg/jpeg format size 30 KB to 50 KB with resolution 140 pixel width and 60 pixel height, as and when asked for.
· For Ex Trade Apprentices- Details of apprenticeship training done Ordnance Factories with relevant certificate to be uploaded in 8- bit jpg/jpeg format size 30 KB to 50 KB with resolution 140 pixel width and 60 pixel height, as and when asked for.
· Details of credit card, debit card, net banking etc to be provided for fee payment, as and when asked for.
d) Candidates will be required to complete the Online Application Form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II, as per the instructions available through drop down menus. Candidates have to completely fill up the information in both the stages to be considered eligible for appearing in the written examination.
e) On completing Part I, the candidates will receive an Application Registration Number (ARN) on the same mobile number which they entered. Input of erroneous or incorrect mobile number in Part I will lead to incomplete registration.
f) On successful completion of Part I and receipt of Application Registration Number through SMS, the candidate should login through ‘APPLICANT LOGIN’ in the website and complete all the information/formalities of PART-II, including fee payment, as per the dropdown menus and guidelines.
g) The candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.50/- Rupees Fifty only) [excepting SC/ST/
Female/Physically Handicapped candidates who are exempted from payment of fee] either by payment gateway integrated in the website by using credit card, debit card or net banking or by depositing the money in any branch of SBI by cash (through challan downloaded from this website).

i) The candidates must ensure that while filling their Application Form, they are providing their valid and active E-Mail IDs as OFRC may use electronic mode of communication while contacting them at different stages of examination process.
j) The candidate shall print and retain the application forms with themselves only to be produced by her/him later, at the time of document verification/trade test. Candidates are NOT required to send hard copy of application forms to the respective Factory/OFRC/OFB.
k) Candidates are strongly advised to apply online well in time without waiting for the
last date for submission of Online Applications.
9.5 Any duplicate applications with different trades/factories will be summarily rejected. The applicants are advised to submit only single application. However, if due to any unavoidable situation, if she/he submits another/multiple applications, then she/he must ensure that application with the higher Application Registration Number/last application is complete in all respects like applicants’ details, examination centre, photograph, signature, fee etc. The applicants who are submitting multiple applications should note that only the applications with higher Application Registration Number/last application shall be entertained by OFRC and fee paid against one registration shall not be adjusted against any other registration nor refunded under any circumstances.
