(Notification) Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) - 2016
GSET 2016 or Gujarat SET 2016 is the eleventh Gujarat State Eligibility Test. MSU Baroda will conduct Gujarat SET 2016 at six centers namely Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Patan, and Bhavnagar. State agency will hold exam for 23 subjects.
Eligibility:
1. Before submission of the online Application Form, the candidate should read this notification carefully.
2. On behalf of the State of Gujarat, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, the Nodal Agency announces holding of the 11th Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) on 25th September 2016 (SUNDAY) for determining the Eligibility of Gujarat candidates for Assistant Professor in universities and colleges of Gujarat State. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, State Agency will conduct GSET in 23 subjects at 6 Centres in Gujarat.
3. The candidates who qualify the Gujarat State Eligibility Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned Universities / Colleges / State Government of Gujarat State, as the case may be.
4. The result of the GSET to be held on 25th September 2016 (SUNDAY) will be made available on the GSET websites: www.gujaratset.ac.in as and when it is declared. The candidates will not be individually intimated about their result.
5. Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Physically Handicapped (PH) / Visually Handicapped (VH) /Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy layer), as per the central list of Other Backward Classes available on National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Government of India website : www.ncbc.nic.in, candidates will be given such special concessions as may be decided by the Agency.
Age limit :
There is no upper age limit.
Selection process – There will be three papers in GSET 2016. Paper I will have 60 questions out of which 50 will be compulsory. Whereas Paper II and Paper III will have 50 and 75 questions each.
Application fee :
Rs 800 for General and OBC candidates. Rs 700 for SC / ST / PH / VH candidates.
Exam Pattern:
Gujarat Government conducts State Eligibility Test (GSET) for
the post of Lecturer. Unlike NET / UGC-CSIR combined test the candidates who
qualify Gujarat SET are only eligible for being selected as lecturer and not for
the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
Gujarat State Eligibility Test qualified candidates shall be eligible to apply
for the post of lecturer only in the Universities / College belonging to the
State of Gujarat.
Exam pattern of GSET 2016 is explained in following table given below.

- Paper 1 is of general nature. Correspondingly, it will assess teaching / research aptitude. There will be questions on reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. To point out, only 50 questions will be compulsory.
- Paper 2 will have questions on subject selected by the candidate, significantly, all will be compulsory.
- Paper 3 will also have questions on subject selected by the candidate.
Syllabus:
Many candidates who appear for state level eligibility tests also appear in UGC NET or CSIR NET.
In view of that, state agency has kept GSET Syllabus same as UGC / CSIR NET. Thus it is easier for candidates to prepare for Gujarat State Eligibility Test.

Hall Ticket
It may be noted that the hall ticket will be uploaded on the website www.gujaratset.ac.in 7 days prior to Examination day. No hall ticket will be sent to the candidates by post. The candidates should download their hall ticket from the website to ascertain their venue of the Test as mentioned in the Hall Ticket and appear in the examination only at the designated examination center. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination center other than that allotted to him/her in the Hall Ticket.
