(Notification) BHU Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET) - 2016

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will conduct Postgraduate Entrance Test 2016 for admission to various Postgraduate Courses. BHU Admission 2016 will be made according to merit in the BHU PET 2016, subject to fulfilling of Eligibility requirements and availability of seats in the particular Course for which the candidate has applied for and appeared in the BHU Entrance Test.

Eligibility:

The eligibility norms will vary from course to course, however the basic eligibility is Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline. There will be some relaxation given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged category. Therefore, candidates are instructed to ensure their eligibility before applying for PET 2016.

Examination Pattern:

There shall be negative marking in entrance tests for all Courses of study in PET. Three marks shall be awarded for each correct answer while one mark shall be deducted for each incorrect answer. Unattempted question will be awarded zero mark.

There shall be a separate test for each course; however, there shall be common test for certain courses as indicated below.

II MBA in Financial Management(Under Special Courses of Study)/ MBA in Foreign Trade (Under Special Courses of Study)/ MBA in Financial Management (Risk And Insurance) (Under Special Courses of Study)
III LL.M. (General), LL.M.(HRDE) and LL.M. (One Year) (under Special Courses of Study)
IV Master of Vocation in Retail Management/ Master of Vocation in Logistics Management/ Master of Vocation in Hospital and Tourism Management

For such courses having common entrance test, the admission to the respective courses shall be made on the basis of merit of the candidate (in the common entrance test) and choice/ preference for course(s) given by him at the time of Counseling and his/ her eligibility for the course.

In case a candidate prefers to be considered for more than one course for which there are separate entrance tests, he/ she shall apply for each such course separately provided the tests are held on different dates (See schedule of Entrance Tests).

How To Apply

To apply for the the application, the candidate would need the following:

  • An E-mail ID for registration and for receiving all future correspondence till the admission process is over and subsequently, if admitted.
  • A Mobile Number to receive SMS based notifications/communications related to the online application, Admit card, Entrance Test Result, Admission Counseling etc till the admission process is over and subsequently, if admitted.
  • Access to facilities of computer with internet connectivity, B/W printer and scanner.
  • A recent passport sized colour photograph (for scanning and uploading in "jpeg" format only. File size of scanned photograph should not be more than 100KB).
  • Your signature using Blue/Black pen on white sheet (for scanning and uploading in "jpeg" format only. File size of scanned photograph should not be more than 100KB).

  • Access to an online payment facility / service such as
    Net Banking
    Credit card
    ATM-cum-Debit card

Documents Required:

  1. Transfer Certificate.
  2. Migration Certificate, if passed from a university other than BHU (To be submitted not later than 90 days of admission).
  3. High School Certificate/equivalent Certificate.
  4. Intermediate (+2) Certificate/equivalent Certificate.
  5. Mark sheets of High School/equivalent & Intermediate (+2)/equivalent.
  6. Mark sheet of the Qualifying Examination (Refer note clause below 21).
  7. UET Admit Card issued from the office of the Controller of Examinations, BHU.
  8. SC/ST/OBC/ OBC Certificate on the basis of which reserved quota seat is claimed.
  9. Certificate(s) in support of claim for ‘Sports Seats’.
  10. Certificate of being the son/daughter of a permanent in-service employee/Retired/Reemployed/ Deceased employee of BHU in the prescribed format issued by the Central Registry.
